Drama

Queen of the Mist – A young teacher seeks to liberate her spirit by risking every good relationship she’s ever had and her own life as she prepares to become the first woman to go over Niagara Falls and live to tell the tale. Based on true events. R. Broadhurst

Surviving Lost - A student survives the terror of rape, comes face to face with her attacker and forced to face him and her destiny. (True crime story.) Rough, it's a gripping read, spot on dialog; I read it just last Sunday and loved it. We do not typically rep a script like this because of the profanity; in this script however, it works—and it can be cut out, the writing works well either way.) R. Broadhurst

Keepin’ On - A former activist turned codger can’t be a friend to his own son, and thus, this lively and boisterous senior befriends a homeless woman—she can’t be a mother to her own daughter. Misapplied energies eventually bring these two souls together to heal their respective pasts. R. Broadhurst.

Blue Zone - A wealthy ladies man, who has always lived life from the waist down, interrupts a robbery. He’s shot and paralyzed and now has to learn what it's like to live life from the waist up. The woman he saved during the robbery becomes more than just ‘help’ to him, but her past won’t let her have any kind of future with anyone. It’s Pretty Woman meets Rear Window. R. Broadhurst

Castle - A bad mother learns what it takes to be a good one in the span of twenty four hours, as she must risk her life to save the life of a son she barely knows. R. Broadhurst

Butterfly Lovers - Past life experiences were forbidden to interfere with present time -= until now. Keith is an oil painter, recovering alcoholic and divorced father of talented young Tatum, and she's got her whole life ahead of her. The two are close indeed; she's made him a better man. When Tatum is killed in a car crash Keith's life circles the drain. He begins to 'see' an odd specter -- not a ghost, but not quite real. Keith realizes he's 'mindlessly' seen this man before and now this visitor speaks to him about Keith's hand on a turn of the karmic wheel. This work moves from granite reality to the ethereal effortlessly and challenges all parties involved. Butterfly Lovers offers a surprise which uplifts as all the players begin again. Inspired by the non-fiction book Secret of the Butterfly Lovers, by Keith Richardson, screenwriter Richard Broadhurst takes a dramatic series of events and circumstances, upends them and further exposes average, flawed people to that which cannot be seen. The action is happening to them and they can’t even believe it. Never preachy, the drama is beautifully developed. Butterfly Lovers by Richard Broadhurst is a ‘two hankie’ read. High success commercial probability. (We have all rights.)

New! Naked Canvas – A vibrant artist in his seventies begins to show signs of early Alzheimer’s when love blossoms in the dark tunnel of his life. Can love light the way? When seniors fall in love, rules change. R. Broadhurst

Lambs to the Slaughter - A racist redneck kidnaps an innocent black man and finds out that same man is the only person who can save him. Hate meets fate. I think I like this one as it's not about the 'races'; it's about boys becoming men, and men setting the finest example, even if it's ugly by way of delivery. Can be shot for 1M or less, stunning script. Entertains, evokes sadness and in the end is a touching story about hope between the races. R Broadhurst

Bagman - A subdued thief and his impersonator partner steal a car and end up kidnapping a mobster’s stepdaughter. Bagman becomes a shell game of plastic guns, a bag of cash and a lotta Santas. A funny mix of a youngster’s wit and adult missteps. Kids will say the darndest thing when they’re kidnapped. R. Broadhurst & Ron Colby.

Shadows - A "whodunit" becomes a "whosawit" in a unique twist on the mystery/thriller genre, when a sleazy private investigator is hired (by the killer) to go undercover in order to find out who witnessed a murder. All the PI. knows is that the witness belongs to a therapy group, thus, he must pretend to have psychological issues so that he can get into the group and ferret out the witness—but this PI does have "issues" and becomes so involved in therapy that he refuses to give up the identity of the person in his group he thinks may have been the eyewitness.   The PI's refusal to do the job he's been hired for sets off a chain of unexpected events with dangerous ends. R. Broadhurst

Dramedy

Over Easy - A small town waitress is set up by a well-meaning friend to heal the past of an alcoholic soap star. A perfectly charming script, this work is certain to garner critical acclaim; the perfect little gem of a movie, it's the 'let's go out on a date' flick. Ed Asner has expressed and interest in playing ‘Horace.’ R. Broadhurst

Borrowed Time - Father is dying of cancer, son is dying of aids; the race is on as to who can out-stubborn whom in the process. This script is actually far lighter than it sounds; yanks a tear or two, good ending. Critical acclaim wouldn’t surprise us.  Could be a ‘star maker’ for the right actors. R. Broadhurst

Romantic Comedy

The Lark - A handsome thief (Andreo) hooks up with an adventurous princess in his pursuit of becoming a world renowned violinist (and he uses an almost magical violin known as the Lark; the instrument offers melodies which act like a truth serum), but he must get beyond his past in order to have a future. Set in early eighteenth century Italy, this film’s tone and feel is a medieval adventure of love, friendship and laughter. And while the musical references work with key beats in the storyline, they are used to present a seductive undercurrent which serves the story and doesn’t hinder the action or compete for attention. The script offers a bit of ‘Knight’s Tale’ and ‘Three Musketeers’; it’s a ‘big’ picture. R. Broadhurst

Horror

Grave Matters – Yuppies party way too hard as their kids go out on an ‘adventure hunt’ and find a graveyard. They hang out, tell stories, and fall asleep in the cemetery, each young person atop a different grave. When they awaken, each kid begins to change, and incarnated characters reveal an unsolved mystery as they try to seek justice for murder. Ghosts never had it so good. This is a very commercial work, perfect for the 18-25 demographic target audience. In the right hands could be the next Carrie.  R. Broadhurst and Craig Sabin.
